Sound Suite is local-first software. Your documents never leave your machine unless you choose otherwise.

Overview

Sound Suite is a local-first, self-hosted document intelligence platform. The software runs entirely on your own hardware. We do not operate cloud servers that process your data, we do not have access to your documents, and we do not collect telemetry from the application.

This privacy policy covers two things: the soundsuite.ai marketing website (which you may be reading right now) and the Sound Suite software that you download and run locally.

The short version

Your documents, case data, search queries, AI conversations, and analysis results stay on your machine. We never see them. We never receive them. We cannot access them.

What We Collect

When you visit the soundsuite.ai website, we may collect:

  • Standard web analytics — page views, referral sources, browser type, and general geographic region (country level)
  • Form submissions — if you contact us or request a commercial license, we collect the information you voluntarily provide (name, email, organization)

We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) through analytics. We do not use tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking.

What We Don't Collect

Sound Suite runs 100% on your local machine. The following data never leaves your computer and is never transmitted to us:

  • ✓ Your court documents and legal filings
  • ✓ Case data and case management information
  • ✓ Search queries and analysis results
  • ✓ AI conversations and MCP tool interactions
  • ✓ Document drafts and editor content
  • ✓ Vector embeddings and indexed data
  • ✓ OCR output and extracted text
  • ✓ Exhibit images and annotations

All processing — PDF extraction, OCR, text chunking, embedding generation, and vector search — happens locally on your hardware. Your SQLite database and LanceDB vector store live on your disk, under your control.

Cloud Embedding Providers

Sound Suite defaults to local embedding models that run entirely on your machine. However, you may optionally configure cloud-based embedding providers:

Important: Your choice, your responsibility

If you choose to use OpenAI or Anthropic as your embedding provider, text from your documents will be sent to those providers' APIs to generate embeddings. This is the only scenario in which any of your data leaves your machine.

We recommend using the default local embedding provider (Transformers) for maximum privacy. You can change your embedding provider at any time in the Sound Suite admin panel.

Commercial Licenses

If you purchase a commercial license, we collect the information necessary to process the transaction:

  • Billing information — name, email, organization, and payment details
  • License records — which license tier was purchased and when

Payment processing is handled by our payment processor. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers.

Cookies

The soundsuite.ai marketing website uses minimal, session-only cookies required for basic website functionality (e.g., CSRF protection). We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party marketing cookies.

The Sound Suite software itself does not set any cookies — it runs as a local application on your machine.

Third-Party Services

The soundsuite.ai marketing website uses the following third-party services:

  • Cloudflare — CDN and DDoS protection for the marketing website
  • Payment processor — for commercial license purchases (details provided at checkout)

The Sound Suite software itself does not contact any third-party services unless you explicitly configure a cloud embedding provider.

Data Retention

We don't retain your data because we never receive it.

All document data, case information, embeddings, and analysis results are stored locally on your machine in your SQLite database and LanceDB vector store. You have full control over this data — you can back it up, move it, or delete it at any time.

For the marketing website, web analytics data is retained for up to 12 months. Commercial license records are retained for the duration of the license plus any legally required retention period.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Because Sound Suite is local-first software, policy changes do not affect data you have already processed — that data remains on your machine regardless.
